Dependent upon the position, we welcome dedicated and experienced greenhouse/nursery applicants or entry level applicants who are enthusiastic, have a love of plants and a desire to be trained in a fast-paced, varied and physical work environment.


Customer Service/Loader -

This is a full-time or part-time opening in our retail department for a high-energy, friendly, strong individual to help our customers load their vehicles with plants, trees, bagged goods, pots, etc., as well as perform project work throughout the greenhouses and property. 


Plant knowledge is not required, but the ability to safely lift 50+ pounds, work as a team member and provide outstanding customer service is essential. 


Project work is done both in and outdoors and ranges from raking, painting, moving/pricing plants, watering, stringing lights, weeding and more. 


This is an excellent opportunity to be part of a friendly team, learn about plants and be physically active. 


Nursery Support -

We have full-time and part-time positions for experienced and knowledgeable individuals with previous greenhouse/retail nursery experience. In this role you are partnered with a nursery department manager to maintain and care for plants, trees and displays, price and move trees and plants, as well as answer customer questions regarding plant care, availability and pricing.


We are looking for someone with various shrub/tree/hedge/, rose, and/or berry knowledge. This is a very physically demanding job with lots of lifting, bending and reaching and involves working indoors and outdoors.


In addition to two or more years of applicable experience, we require a friendly and adept communicator who can interact well with customers, even during seasonally high-volume periods of time and someone who is a collaborative and supportive team member. Flexibility to shifting priorities is essential.


A minimum of one weekend day is required in the off-season. Peak season may require full weekends.


Retail Front End Manager -

Our retail Front End Managers supervise customer service/loading personnel, cashiers and indoor foliage personnel. They also maintain displays, care for plants, open and close cash registers, direct the pricing and stocking of plants and hard goods, oversee the information desk, cooperate with other managers to accomplish goals, assist customers with plant holds and deliveries, and other customer service. Answering plant questions and/or directing customers to the appropriate resource or answer is a significant part of this job.


This is a full-time, very physical position in a seasonally high-volume environment that includes weekend work. Key to success in this role is the ability to deftly juggle multiple priorities and people at one time. A collaborative approach to managing projects and people, excellent customer service, high energy and the flexibility to adjust to shifting priorities are essential.


Applicants should have retail management experience. A background working in a nursery, plant store or similar environment is preferred.


Indoor Foliage Department Manager -

This is  a full-time position for an individual with significant indoor houseplant knowledge. Applicants should know not only the needs and care of a large variety of indoor plants and trees, but have sight and name recognition of them, as well.


In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining the retail foliage inventory by ordering from our greenhouses, as well as plant displays, pricing, maintenance and care. There is significant customer interaction. The Indoor Foliage Department Manager assists at our wholesale check out desk and writes up sales receipts for, and fields questions from, our wholesale customers.


This is a physically demanding job with lots of lifting, bending, and reaching and involves working in warm to seasonally very hot temperatures.


In addition to one or more years of applicable retail experience, we require a friendly, team-work oriented person with excellent communication skills. Flexibility to shifting priorities is essential. A minimum of one weekend day is required.

 

Reception/Office Support-

We have a part-time, seasonal position available. This position is focused on busy phones and email inquiries. A variety of office work is also involved. Applicants should have experience answering and processing calls through a multi-line phone system as well as communicating via Outlook email.


Office work may include copying, filing, spreadsheet work, opening/sorting mail, and various other projects. Walking the grounds of the retail operation to distribute paperwork is required from time to time.


The schedule is Friday through Monday, 9 - 5. 


Customer Service Cashier-

We have part-time and full-time openings in our busy and beautiful plant environment. If you have retail cashiering experience, are a people person, pride yourself on accuracy and customer service, have a high level of energy and a strong work ethic, we would like to hear from you. Plant knowledge is helpful, but not required.


Plant Information Desk Representative - Seasonal

Flower World's information desk comes alive from March through June. During this time we staff our information desk with an additional plant expert.


If you have extensive knowledge of Pacific Northwest plants and are able to address questions regarding plant identification and growth habits, pests and diseases, soil amendments, fertilizers and other plant related products, this may be the perfect seasonal position for you.


This is a public facing position that also includes telephone communication. We are looking for an energetic, friendly individual who enjoys being on their feet all day, talking about plants.


Mechanic-

In this full-time position you inspect and maintain vehicles and equipment to support service operations. Responsibilities include:


Keeping equipment available for use by inspecting and testing, performing preventive maintenance such as engine tune-ups, oil changes, tire rotation and changes, wheel balancing and replacing filters. Maintaining vehicle functional condition by listening to operator complaints, repairing engine failures and electrical system malfunctions, replacing parts and components and repairing body damage. Verifying vehicle serviceability by conducting test drives, adjusting controls and systems. Maintaining vehicle appearance by cleaning, washing and painting. Keeping shop equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining supplies, and performing preventive maintenance.


Requires ability to lift, stoop, bend, twist, excellent hand-eye coordination, high energy, dependability, persistence, problem solving and time management skills, consistent attendance, ability to work independently, awareness of and adherence to safety standards, as well as the ability to successfully analyze complex information.


Produce Market Manager - Maltby Produce Market -

We have an excellent opportunity for a friendly, dynamic, customer service-oriented manager with experience in a grocery/produce market. We grow most of the fruits and vegetables we sell, supplemented with items from local vendors. We are looking for someone who is excited to promote our farm-fresh products.


Our ideal candidate has 3-5 years of retail management experience and is very knowledgeable about fruit, produce and other perishable products. Experience with taking inventory and placing orders is essential. This is a customer-facing position so the Manager should have excellent people skills. Important too, is verifiable leadership skills to train, motivate and retain top-quality employees. 


The Manager is responsible for maintaining clean, well-stocked and displayed, rotated temperature-correct, products for our customers. This individual will develop and maintain a positive working relationship with harvest, production and retail personnel, only some of whom will be direct reports. 


This is a physical job, in varied temperatures, that requires the ability to lift a minimum of 50lbs and be on your feet all day.


The Full-Time schedule includes a minimum of one weekend day and early evenings, with seasonal variation.
