Our lumber is harvested from new growth trees, called "Plantation Teak" on our farm in Belize, Central America. This is a great substitution from harvesting old growth teak from Asian forests and other protected areas.
When buying teak beware. As you shop for teak you will find pricing that has large ranges. Often from $7 - $50 per foot. While we try to be as transparent as possible, other teak sellers may not be. It can be difficult to compare quality and price.
When you purchase from us, the board size you order is the board size you will receive. Other places will sell you a 12" x 12" x 1" sized board but the actual cut will be 3/4" thick. This can add 15 - 25% to the price of the board feet.
T&G and V grove set up fees can also mislead pricing. 1" x 6" becomes 3/4" x 5" when shiplap is included in the price per lineal feet. This can double the board foot price.
Lumber listed as "Rough" can actually be dresses on four sides. This can take as much as 1/2" of the sides of the board. For example a 4" x 4" board is actually 3.5" x 3.5". This means you are paying for lumber you are not receiving.
Another trick is to list small board's inches that are hard to calculate and the length is in feet. If a small board is 3/4" x 2" x 48" long, it is only half a board foot, but prices can range over $40 a stick.
Shipping costs can also be included leaving the buyer to guess what the actual cost of the lumber is.
